Welcome to
The Red Sea Project

The world’s most ambitious and exciting tourism and hospitality project: an ultra-luxury destination that is being created around one of the world’s hidden natural treasures.

The Red Sea Project will set new standards in sustainable development and redefine the world of luxury tourism.  Once completed, visitors will be able to explore the wonders and rich cultural heritage of Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea Coast .

About Us

The Red Sea Project is one of three giga-projects announced by HRH Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud in 2017. The Project supports the government’s strategy to diversify the Kingdom’s tourism offering as laid out in Vision 2030, the bold blueprint for the future of Saudi Arabia.

The Red Sea Development Company (TRSDC) was established in 2018 as a standalone entity wholly owned by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia to spearhead development of The Red Sea Project.

TRSDC is creating a year-round ultra-luxury tourism destination that sets a new global standard in environmentally sustainable development while promoting cultural conservation and economic stimulation through local and international investment.

Untouched Treasures

There are few destinations in the world, if any, that have such a diversity and wealth of unique treasures located in such close proximity to each other. 200km of untouched coastline, an archipelago of more than 50 unspoiled islands, dormant volcanoes, rich nature and marine habitats, and ancient archaeological sites.

Coastline

The Red Sea Archipelago

With 200km of untouched Red Sea coastline, the destination offers beautiful sandy beaches with sheltered warm waters and endless sunshine. The 50+ pristine islands are a haven of natural beauty with a wealth of thriving and diverse coral species.

The islands form a well-preserved archipelago with a coastal habitat of mangroves and are home to rich marine habitats and endangered species such as hawksbill turtles and dugongs.

Dormant Volcanoes

Harrat Lunayyir is a dormant volcano; its most recent activity dates back to the 17th century. The area boasts stunning scenery and beautiful vistas of the enormous lava fields.

The rich minerals around this unique site are believed to have medicinal benefits and offer the potential to develop unique health and wellness offerings.

Nature Reserves

The Hijaz Mountains and The Red Sea are home to an abundance of flora and fauna, including endangered species such as dugongs and hawksbill turtles. Environmental protection will be central to the development of this project.

To ensure that the natural environment is not only preserved but nurtured, and to operate to the highest standards of ecological best practice, the annual number of visitors will be capped.

Culture & Heritage

The area is renowned for its rich history and spectacular heritage sites, such as the Lost City of Mada’in Saleh, a UNESCO World heritage site, and extensive rock carvings and petroglyphs that line the path of the ancient Silk Road – a network of trading routes that linked the Middle East to Asia, Africa and Europe.

Sustainable Development
& Environmental Conservation

The regulatory framework of this project will set new standards for sustainable development and environmental protection.

We are exploring the latest technologies in renewable energy, transportation, water conservation, waste management and green construction to ensure that we not only preserve the richness of the natural environment but nurture it for the future.
